Joymakers Celebrates International Success with Grand Prix Win and Festival Selections

We are thrilled to announce that "Joymakers" has won the Grand Prix at the 8th Annual FROM (International Festival of Short Films with a Roma Theme) and has also been officially accepted into the prestigious Berlin Women's Cinema Festival. Adding to these honors, "Joymakers" has also been accepted into the renowned United Nations Association Film Festival. These recognitions highlight the film's powerful impact and its universal message of hope, resilience, and the transformative power of music.

The Jury's Statement: At the 8th FROM, the jury—comprising Dragomir Zupanc (President), Vladimir Dordevic, and Dr. Vladimir Paunovic—awarded the Grand Prix to "Joymakers." They commended the film for its subtle directorial approach, which effectively conveys the emotions, dedication, and passion of the Roma music community in southern Serbia. The film beautifully transports viewers into a world where music ensures the community's future while honoring the legacy of artist Maksut Maksutovic. Through refined photography, thoughtful montage, and a deep personal connection to southern Serbia, "Joymakers" portrays a world where solidarity and art offer a hopeful promise for the future.

 

Festival Circuit Success: "Joymakers" also had a spectacular premiere at Beldocs, the 17th Edition International Documentary Film Festival in Belgrade, Serbia, with two sold-out shows that captivated both audiences and critics. The film's compelling storytelling and moving portrayal of Romi musicians have deeply resonated with viewers, marking a significant milestone in its journey.
